I believe in the power of creative art to heal, transform, and empower – and that everyone has a creative spark just waiting to be ignited.
As an art teacher, probably what I was least prepared for was how much I’d have to confront myself. Can someone say control freak who bent slightly toward authoritarianism? Some nights I went home feeling awful. I wanted students to use their creativity and think critically and independently, but I was so focused on obedience and doing it my way. I'm happy to say I've changed for the better and love the creative art and masterpieces I'm seeing from my students.
